DP World's Agri Terminals at Jebel Ali Port Ushers in a New Era for Global Food Cargo Trading & Momex Stands Ready to Facilitate Seamless Transactions

Breaks Ground on 'Agri Terminals’

The groundbreaking ceremony of DP World's Agri Terminals at Jebel Ali Port marks a significant leap toward transforming the landscape of global food cargo trading. In collaboration with Adroit Overseas Canada and Al Amir Foods, DP World is injecting $150 million into this state-of-the-art facility, poised to elevate the storage and processing of agricultural products.

DP World's Agri Terminals complex is on track to redefine the handling of agricultural goods, including pulses, grains, corn, and soybeans. With cutting-edge infrastructure featuring pneumatic ship unloaders and advanced conveying equipment, this project promises a brighter and more efficient future for food cargo trading.

Set for completion in early 2025, the first phase of the Agri Terminals aligns with DP World's commitment to fortifying the UAE's food supply chain and echoes the goals of the National Food Security Strategy 2051. Jebel Ali Port, already a major player handling 73% of the UAE's food and beverage trade, stands to become an even more vital hub in the global food trade network.

The groundbreaking ceremony, attended by distinguished officials such as His Excellency Dawoud Al Hajri and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, signifies a collaborative effort to stimulate over AED 1.2 billion in new international trade. This ambitious venture perfectly dovetails with the UAE's 'Operation 300 Billion' strategy, showcasing a commitment to driving growth and innovation in the agriculture sector.

DP World anticipates that the Agri Terminals facility will significantly impact Dubai's trade dynamics and food security efforts. The projected enhancement of bulk handling by approximately 750,000 metric tonnes annually signals a positive shift in global food cargo trading dynamics.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, emphasized the transformative nature of the Agri Terminals facility in building resilience into the global food supply chain. The integration of the terminal with existing sugar processing and edible oil facilities paints a picture of a comprehensive food and beverage ecosystem, contributing to sustainability and efficiency.
